The Learning Disability England Conference

On Tuesday 5th December Learning Disability England held their annual conference.

Learning Disability England is an organisation that campaigns for the rights of people with learning disabilities. It is made up of people with learning disabilities, friends and relatives of people with learning disabilities and organisations that support people. KeyRing is one of the organisational Members.

KeyRing Members who are also individual members of Learning Disability England took part, along with some KeyRing staff.

Karyn Kirkpatrick was one of the speakers and presented with Huw John from Camphill Village Trust. She talked about the work that KeyRing has been doing with the Ancora Project in Oldham.

The event was a great success, with lots of presentations and contributions from people with learning disabilities. Michelle Lloyd from our Midlands team said:

It is always great to be in an environment with self advocates who are passionate about change and who are supportive of each other and in the difference they want to make to others with disabilities.

Stephen Weaver is a KeyRing Member who is also a member of LDE. He was a delegate and also helped out at the conference. He said:

I enjoyed helping out at the station. The conference was lovely. I enjoyed the workshops and speaking to people. I'd like to thank Learning Disability England and would like to go again next year.
