What people say about the Group

At each Working for Justice group meeting we have visitors from different areas of the Criminal Justice System, plus health and social care staff. Below you can hear what some of them have to say about their experience.

"We can't thank the Working for Justice group enough for their advice, suggestions and thoughts on how best to create an effective Easy Read Application Form. Using the ideas that the Working for Justice group gave us, we created a new Easy Read form that has proven to be very effective indeed. As a result of creating this form we have seen a significant surge in applications from the vulnerable group we have been trying to reach out to.

We have also received a great deal of praise from our stakeholders, including lawyers and prison staff, about the new form and we are so pleased that more people are able to access our service because its creation. We plan to continue to create documents for people who have gone through the criminal justice system in an easy read format. Thanks again for all your help and support with this and thanks again to the Working for Justice group. Their advice has been invaluable."

A letter from the Independent Police Complaints Committee (IPCC) on working with the group.

"I just wanted to say a big thank you to both yourself and the Working for Justice group for your help and support with my dissertation. I recently got my results and my dissertation was my best grade. A big thank you to Danny, Graham, Kim and Anthony for doing the interviews and being so open and honest. It was great to attend the group sessions and I hope the group continues the fantastic work that it is involved in, Thanks again."

"I really enjoyed visiting and working with the Working for Justice group. They are a very knowledgeable bunch of people with really important things to say about the criminal justice system and how it needs to be significantly improved so it works better for people with a learning disability."

"We spent an excellent day with the Working for Justice group who were providing feedback on the Easy Read Communications we are developing for service users. The group were welcoming and enthusiastic and without the group's constructive and insightful feedback, we would not have produced such high quality Easy Read communications.

Overall we found the experience informative and rewarding and we look forward to working with the Working for Justice group again in the future.

Thank you Working for Justice!!"

London Probation Trust

"We felt really lucky to be able to meet the Working for Justice group and we gained a lot from the thoughtful and sensitive feedback and discussions we had. I was really inspired and at times very moved by some of the things that group members described about their past and current lives and the support they are now giving each other as part of the group and as friends and neighbours."
