£7500 funding secured to set up new Darlington Hub

We are really excited to announce that we have received funding to set up a new community hub venue in in the Lascelles/Bank Top Mews area of Darlington.

We would like to say a big thank you to Darlington Police and the community members who voted for our project.

We will run a weekly community hub that will be led by members. We will promote independence, reduce social isolation and build positive relationships within the community. The hub will be aimed at vulnerable adults and younger people. It will work alongside our existing service and will promote peer support offering volunteering opportunities.

We can offer support around benefit issues, health issues and signpost people to relevant services.

The funding will benefit the community by giving positive opportunities to socially isolated and vulnerable people to become involved in their area. We will provide a safe place for people to explore and develop their skills which would be used to improve the area. We aim to bring the community together by doing litter picks, wellbeing checks on isolated residents, and give ownership of the hub to the community. This will bring a sense of belonging and pride. The long term aim is for the hub to be run by the community itself, reducing the need for paid services. It will then potentially be replicated in other areas of Darlington.
