Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Organisation structure, business and supply chains
KeyRing is a UK-based charity, employing 140 people supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, neurodivergent, disabled people and older people to live fulfilling lives within their communities. Our work is delivered through a national network of local services, primarily led by directly employed staff and volunteers.
Our core activities are social care and community-based support. Our workforce is UK-based and the majority are recruited directly. Our supply chains are relatively small and include recruitment services, training providers, IT and digital services, payroll and finance services, office supplies, facilities management, and professional advisory services. We do not operate complex international supply chains.
Policies in relation to slavery and human trafficking
KeyRing is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our organisation and supply chains. Our approach is grounded in our values of respect, dignity, inclusion, and safeguarding.
Relevant policies include:
-
Safeguarding Adults and Children Policy
-
Whistleblowing Policy
-
Safer Recruitment Policy and Procedures
-
Code of Conduct
-
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy
Due diligence processes
KeyRing takes a proportionate, risk-based approach to due diligence. This includes safe recruitment practices, identity and right-to-work checks, payroll audit checks and procedures, ethical procurement processes, supplier assurances of compliance with UK employment law, and the use of safeguarding and whistleblowing procedures to investigate concerns.
Risk assessment and management
KeyRing considers the risk of modern slavery in its direct operations to be low due to UK-based delivery and robust safeguarding systems. Risks are managed through:
Effectiveness and monitoring
We review effectiveness through policy reviews, monitoring safeguarding and whistleblowing concerns, recruitment oversight, and senior leadership and trustee scrutiny. We promote a culture of openness where concerns can be raised. No instances of modern slavery or human trafficking have been identified within KeyRing or its supply chains.
Training and capacity building
Staff and volunteers receive training appropriate to their roles, including safeguarding adults, safer recruitment, whistleblowing, raising concerns, and ethical practice. We also raise awareness of Modern Slavery with our Support workers as there is a higher risk of exploitation of vulnerable adults.
Ongoing commitment
KeyRing is committed to continuous improvement and will keep its approach under regular review. This statement is reviewed annually and approved by senior leadership and trustees.
